Our Client, one of the world’s largest FPSO operators is currently searching for Barge Master and Barge Operator with strong FPSO experience and right to work in UK.

Job Overview

Leads a team to ensure the installations satiation keeping, vessel stability during loading/offloading operations and associated marine activities.

This position reports directly to the Offshore Installation Manager.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • To have sufficient understanding of process safety and major accident hazard management to be able to effectively contribute and influence business decisions impacting process safety.
  • Commitment to incident free operations.
  • Where appropriate, position to provide input to major accident hazard management, in particular the prevention, detection, control, mitigation and response to major accidents.
  • Ensuring all marine & deck activities are conducted in a manner that protects the health, safety, environment and welfare of the people and assets of the installation.
  • Ensuring work programs are executed in a safe, competent and timely manner, are correctly prioritized and resourced (manpower and equipment) and optimised within the overall work load on the installation, to meet asset business goals and objectives.
  • Build effective working relationships with other departments and shifts.
  • Responsibility for heading control and station keeping.
  • Management and effective operation of cargo storage and export, ballast control, and power management systems, and be able to demonstrate compliance with the asset assurance & verification scheme elements under his authority.
  • Responsible for the management of the marine diesel oil and freshwater quality. Regularly reporting usage, advising OIM of any concerns in relation to weather forecasts and ability to maintain minimum stock levels.
  • Responsible for Lifting and Rigging Operations, including maintenance and certification of equipment and appliances and planning and risk assessments of tasks.
  • Responsibility as department head for ensuring that all operational & first-line maintenance activities strictly adhere to safe system of work, all contractors and vendors are adequately supervised and time managed.
  • Responsibility for installation safety systems which provide the means of evacuation and / or escape, and to ensure helicopter systems & lifesaving appliances are at optimum readiness.
  • Supervise, coach and support direct reports in a professional manner.
  • Responsible for controlling costs within scope of responsibility.
  • In co-operation with the other installation departments and onshore support, is jointly responsible for ensuring that the marine systems, structure & moorings are inspected and maintained to Class, Flag State and Company Verification standards.
  • Contributing to identifying and agreeing the work programs and budgets for following years.
  • As part of the Asset team, responsible for delivering.
  • Continuous performance improvement for the facility.
  • Optimization of offshore crew.
  • Cross facility assistance.
  • Management of contractors onboard.
  • Recommend changes to equipment and assurance routines to improve performance, efficiency, cost management and productivity.
  • Comply with Company procedures and ensure a full and comprehensive handover detailing all relevant information in accordance with these procedures.
  • Commit to Competence Assurance System and undertake any training and assessment activities as appropriate to the role.
  • Ensure their teams meet the expected competency levels required to carry out the duties expected.
  • Input to the succession planning process, ensuring development of the team ensuring a focus on key positions within the team.
  • Manages the Marine Department on the FPSO, ensuring that the station keeping, and marine systems are operated safely and effectively, and in a manner which re-enforces company values and assures the integrity, reliability and compliance of the asset.
  • Responsible for the health, safety and welfare of crew, and areas of environment pertaining to their position.

 

Key knowledge and experience

  • STCW Reg ll/2 (Chief Mate) + experience in an FPSO supervisory position.
  • Tanker Endorsement (Oil)
  • Ability to create positive relations to peers and stakeholders internally and externally.
  • DP or TAMS experience with DP Advanced Training.
  • Written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present technical issues in a clear and concise manner.
  • Supervisory experience in offshore or similar environment and Vendor management experience.

 

Education

  • Preferably Masters Certificate of Competency

Job Overview

Responsible for daily marine operations as directed by the Barge Supervisor.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • To have sufficient understanding of process safety and major accident hazard management to be able to effectively contribute and influence business decisions impacting process safety.
  • Commitment to incident free operations.
  • Actively support a working environment based on respect for health, safety and environmental issues and maintenance of a high level of asset integrity.
  • Participate as a member of the Barge Master’s team in delivering performance against targets.
  • Build effective working relationships with other departments and shifts.
  • Loading, storage and discharging of oil cargo.
  • Ballasting, trim and stability of the vessel.
  • COW, tank cleaning, gas freeing for entry.
  • Mooring and unmooring of shuttle tankers as designated by the Barge Master.
  • Vessel systems power management.
  • Ensure vessel position and heading is maintained and implements changes to vessel heading as required.
  • Maintain an effective marine and aviation radio watch.
  • Co-ordinate in-field operations involving shuttle tankers, support vessels and helicopters.
  • Assist with the inspection and maintenance of life saving appliances and firefighting equipment.
  • Execute duties as specified in the station/bill/emergency response procedures or as directed by the OIM.
  • Carry out first-line maintenance on marine systems where competent, or assist as appropriate.
  • Ensure that the CCR is constantly manned.
  • Monitor vessel status and reacts to changes in vessel systems, and requests assistance from other departments as required.
  • Isolation and preparation of equipment for maintenance.
  • Complete verification assurance and routine activities and maintain accurate records.
  • Liaise with all departments to minimise disruption to operational activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of on-board marine operations, vessel and aircraft movements.
  • Comply with Company procedures and ensure a full and comprehensive handover detailing all relevant information in accordance with these procedures.
  • Commit to Competence Assurance System and undertake any training and assessment required for the role.
